Can I Mess up Kindergarten?

I was thinking the other day of all the reasons we are so thankful we chose to home school, but I never would have thought of those things when we started.  And I wonder what other benefits we will realize.  I meet so many people who think they could never do it, but every time I talk to people who do or did, they always say they never felt quite adequate enough to do it - but just kept doing their best and relying on God.

Our oldest, Hope (now 16, a sophomore) was in preschool at a local church when I asked a good friend of mine why she was homeschooling.  She had two girls, about 8 and 9 at the time.  She said she would send off two happy little girls in the morning, but they would come home tired and crabby.  Then they would battle all night over getting homework done before going to bed and getting up to do it all over again.  I know this isn't necessarily how everyone's experience with "outside of the home schooling" goes, but she got us thinking.  I hadn't the foggiest idea how it would work, but she invited us to a seminar by Carol Joy Seid (http://blog.carolejoyseid.com/ ).  Terry and I both went and listened to Carol talk about many things, but what I remember the most was that she empowered me to believe God would give us what we needed along the way.  While I was still teetering on the decision, I eventually thought to myself, "Well, I don't think I can mess up Kindergarten."

More later........
